The wait is almost over! Euro 2024 is finally here, with Germany and Scotland set to meet at Munich's Allianz Arena on Friday to kick off the much-anticipated tournament. But how are the 24 teams in shape ahead of the opening game?

France looked strong in qualifying, England proved they are more than capable of ending their wait for a first major trophy since 1966, and Portugal impressed under new coach Roberto Martinez.

Obviously Spain and Belgium fancy their chances too, given their depth, but what about the hosts? Germany are showing timely signs of recovery under new manager Julian Nagelsmann.

Below, GOAL ranks the top five teams in all 24 Euro 2024 victories. . .

5. Germany

While Niklas Fulkrug has been in fine form for his country - 11 goals in 16 games - and Kai Havertz has been in fine form recently, Nagelsmann is clearly missing a world-class striker. That might prevent Germany from going all the way, but it shouldn't stop them from making it out of a weak group of Switzerland, Scotland and Hungary - and gathering some strong momentum in the process.

4. England

If both Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane are fit and hot, the Three Lions should be able to at least ease into the semi-finals with a more relaxed format, which would give them an advantage over their tired opponents.

3. Belgium

All things considered, De Bruyne might actually enjoy the tournament in Germany this summer, as Belgium is drawn in a very winnable group in the finals alongside Romania, Ukraine and Slovakia.

2. Portugal

Given the combination of experienced players (Ronaldo, Rui Patricio and Pepe), young players (Nuno Mendes and Joao Neves) and top players (Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva, Vitinha, Rafael Leao and Diogo Jota) in the team, Portugal has everything it takes to win the championship.

1. France

France is still the highest-ranked European team in the world - and for good reason. Didier Deschamps' team has some weaknesses (the coach's pragmatism can be said to be one of them), but they have a deep reserve of players, both exciting young players and evergreen veterans who have seen, experienced and won everything.
